Hopkinton Farmers Market Press Release

Hopkinton Farmers Market Opening Day is June 7 from 1-5pm on the Hopkinton Common!

Hopkinton, MA, May 27, 2020 - Buy Local, Eat Local and Shop Local under the open sky at Hopkinton Common every Sunday from June 7 - October 11th from 1-5PM. Governor Baker has considered Farmers Markets an essential business and the Hopkinton Board of Health has approved our procedures to open for our 2020 Season!

This Market is run by a small team of committed local community volunteers with a goal to support local businesses while making local foods and goods accessible to our community. We are thankful for the continued support from our Town Officials and community to make this happen!

Our team is working around the clock to ensure that the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines are in place. Due to restrictions, we must prioritize food vendors at this time. It is our hope that we can invite Local Artisans, Community Organizations and Local Businesses back soon.

We have redesigned the layout of the Market and will limit the number of people inside the market at one time. We wanted to make you aware of several crucial changes we have put in place and ask for your cooperation and patience to ensure a safe experience for everyone.

The entrance and exit will be at the center of the Common where the sidewalks intersect. Please follow the one way instructions and state mandated social distancing rules. We have strategically arranged our Vendors to ensure maximum space.

6 ft distancing will be marked in front of each vendor’s tent and for those waiting in front of the vendor or outside of the market waiting to enter.

All Visitors & Vendors at the market will be required to wear a mask. If you should forget yours, we will be offering handmade masks from Hopkinton residents. Proceeds will be donated to Project Just Because and the Mental Health Collaborative.

We will have hand sanitizer for use as you enter.

Please leave your reusable bags at home. Vendors will be handing you purchases in a new bag.

Some of our Vendors are taking pre-orders. We encourage online orders for pick-up prior to the Market - Please go to our Facebook or website for more information on each vendor; www.hopkinton farmers market.com.

Sampling will not be allowed.

Most Vendors accept credit cards and can facilitate touchless transactions. We encourage you to bring cash that will not require the vendor to give change, a receptacle will be available on each vendor table for you to place your cash in.

For our SNAP customers, we will be continuing our $10 incentive for $10 swiped from your card. Currently, only Long Life Farm offers the Healthy Incentive Program (HIP) incentive. Use your SNAP card directly with the farm for your produce purchase. A receptacle will be available on the vendor table for the coins.

We encourage you to leave kids at home. If you do bring them, please keep them at your side at all times.

Please be aware that music, activities and entertainment are suspended at this time until approval in future Phases. We hope to bring back the fun Sunday Farmers Market experience to you all soon!

In addition to the above, all of our food vendors have been trained in our biosecurity practices and will be wearing masks and gloves as well as have hand washing facilities that they will be using frequently throughout the market. There will be a table in front of all booths to facilitate distance between the vendor and the customer. These tables will be sanitized throughout the day.

We welcome back some of your old favorites and some new Vendors this year!

Birchtree Bread Company, Long Life Farm, Simple Simply Farm, Shady Pine Farm, Boston Sword and Tuna, Kelly’s Farm, Nutty Bird Granola, Woodville Maples, Auntie Dalies Pasta, The Fudge Lady, and Doris’ Peruvian Pastries.

We are just beginning our season and are still accepting additional Essential Vendors - are you one of know of one? Reach out! Please visit our website for our application and a more detailed list of Vendors who have signed up at; www.hopkinton farmers market.com.

We are a non-profit, HFM is made possible through the generous support of local businesses and individuals who create the market’s operating budget. Simply put: it would not happen without you. The required PPE and CDC mandates have significantly increased our costs, taking a lot out of our already minimal budget. We are asking for your financial support. You or your business can become a Sponsor of our market for the 2020 Season. Please email us for our Sponsor Kit or if you’d like to make a one-time, tax-deductible donation at hopkintonharvest@gmail.com.

Thank you all for your continued support and excitement for the Market season - see you Sundays at the Market!
